QLD Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Large Hail, Heavy Rain, Damaging Winds

For people in the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett and parts of the Central Coast and Whitsundays, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt Forecast Districts.

Issued at 1:12 pm Tuesday, 20 January 2015.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Dalby, Bundaberg, Emerald, Rockhampton, Mackay, Kingaroy, Biloela, Blackwater, Yeppoon, Moranbah, Sarina and Carnarvon National Park.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
