QLD Flood Watch: Coastal Catchments Between Ayr and St Lawrence

Source: Bureau of Meteorology

Issued at 11:42 am EST on Wednesday 4 April 2018

Flood Watch Number: 7

River level rises and areas of minor flooding may develop over parts of the Flood Watch area from Wednesday.

Tropical Cyclone Iris in the Coral Sea is expected to bring further rainfall to coastal catchments in the Flood Watch area for the remainder of the week.

Heavy rainfall may lead to local flooding.

River level rises could cause disruption to transport and isolation of communities.

On Thursday, Tropical Cyclone Iris should weaken below tropical cyclone intensity and slow down offshore of the Central Coast, before adopting a track back towards the northwest as a tropical low during Friday. There is a lot of uncertainty associated with the track of Tropical Cyclone Iris and the Flood Watch area may be extended north again if required.

Catchments which may be affected include:

Don and Proserpine Rivers
Pioneer River

The following catchments have been removed based on the latest forecast track of Tropical Cyclone Iris: Connors, Isaac and Styx Rivers and Plane Creek.
